The M of M Update

First of all I wanted to say thank you to all of those who have commented and emailed me about the post on the book, Mission of Motherhood. Working and staying at home can be a sensitive issue for many and appreciate all of the encouragement and insight you all gave me.

Secondly I want to say that I have since read many more chapters of the book and have found it to be a great resource at looking at motherhood through a Christ like lens. She discusses the sacrificial side of Motherhood, and how Christ asks us to sacrifices our lives for Him and this is what we do for our children. She talks about discipline, goal setting and ideas for showing love and comfort in your home. So when I got past the first part that made my already aching heart hurt worse I have really enjoyed the book. I think it would be useful for any Christian mother who longs to bring up her children to love God!

I think after some prayer and reflection that I am sure that for now I am right where I need to be. Just doing my best to serve God by loving my family and serving them and attempting to serve God here at school by showing my kids His love and compassion. Sometimes I fail at both but hopefully in the long run both will be a success.

Charlie told me to tell you that serving your family means giving him your Cheetos. I think he wanted that to spelled out in the blog.

Carrie- I know you are an amazing woman of God and your time with your children is so important to you! I know SAHM's who pay no attention to their kids and sometimes I feel like that's me and I know mom's who work who spend much more quality time with their kids. You do what's best for YOUR family and I do know that God will use you in mighty ways at your job and at home!

One suggestion though... make room in your budget for someone to clean your house twice a month! :) When I was working full time last year we did and it was the BEST $100 a month we spent! It took so much stress off of me! Even TJ said it was worth the money. It can take someone else 3 hours to clean when it could take you 6 or longer! :)

I'm just say'in :)
