The Rover

Darby of Fly Through Our Window has three adorable kids. Her youngest is an adorable little boy she affectionately calls, "Rover". She calls him such because he tends to get into mischief but remains adorable. Today Noah was officially inducted into the Rover category! We had an afternoon!

He woke up from his nap and we ate Popsicles on the porch. It was so pretty and he was being so good, I thought "I should get out the easel and paint!" Silly mommy. We were painting and aside from a brief painting the driveway incident everything was fine. Brooke got up from her nap and came over to paint. Noah must have felt the need to show off for BB. While Jennifer and I were sitting talking I thought I heard him say, " I paint my skin red." Surely not. Uhmm. I looked at him and he was PAINTING HIS FACE AND HAIR. Away went the easel.

Soon after one of Jennifer and Teral's friends came over with his adorable chocolate lab puppy. Noah and Brooke love this puppy. Noah was talking baby talk to it and petting it. Rubbing noses with it. Rolling in mud puddles with it. All the sudden he is sitting on the puppy. SITTING ON THE PUPPY.In his defense he "rides" Charlie a lot. But Charlie is about ten times the size of this puppy.

Later we take Noah and Brooke to the neighborhood playground. They swung on the swings and slid down the slides. There was a little boy around five years old there. Noah thought he hung the moon. He would hang around him and stare. Jennifer, Teral and I retired to the picnic table. I look over at him and he is chewing on rocks. ON ROCKS. In his defense, Charlie chews on big rocks. But he is a dog and he doesn't swallow them. Adam came home and picked us up from the playground. Noah is covered in Popsicle, paint, mud, and playground dirt. I'm not sure Adam wanted to let him in the car.

He is a Rover who earned his bath tonight. I prayed for little boys as a teenager. I wanted a houseful of little boys. God has a sense of humor. What on earth am I going to do with two Rovers?????

H-m-m-m! I think little girls can be "rovers" too. When you were that age we used to measure how good your day was by how dirty you were by bathtime! As Noah does, you rushed at life ready to experience it at every level. How does it feel? How does it taste? Can I wear it? Can I use it to make "art"? I will grant you that Noah seems to move a little faster then you did ( or is it just that I move more slowly these days?) and go longer before he stops. Your blog reminds me again of what a joy it was......continues to be...to watch you embrace LIFE!

I think little one's just are into stuff! What a joy! These days go by quickly. You don't want to hear about that I know. When I was your age and someone would tell me that I didn't believe them. I bet you are in the same place.
It's fun to watch life through their eyes. He is a joy for his Nana and Puddin!
Love you!
