The Sister's Wedding

I distinctly remember the day I became I a big sister. Many of my memories are distorted by photographs or stories retold a million times. But this memory I know to be true and pure because there is no photo. I remember standing in line with my Granny in at convenience store dressed to the nines. The cashier asked me why I was so dressed up and I stated that I was going to meet my baby sister. I felt so grown up and responsible. Being a big sister was a responsibility to me. One I took seriously all my life. Last weekend I watched her walk down the aisle to marry a start a new life with an amazing man.

I couldn't help but feel that same sense of pride as I did when I first laid eyes on her.

 My baby sister.

 A bride.

Emy and Nick were married at my parents church and the celebration reflected her personality. She has been wanting a small garden wedding since she was in her teens. February doesn't really allow for that. But we did our best to make her mason jar and burlap and lace ideas materialize. It turned out beautiful.

Almost as beautiful as she was.

One of my favorite things were all the flowers. We got to make some bouquets together and flower arrangements. I love her bridal bouquet! I think I should quit my day job! I took over as photographer after the important pictures were taken. I love the images that capture these memories and emotions.

Emy has had some challenging months and Nick is an amazing rock for her.

He will be her anchor and point her towards the cross.

What more could a sister ask for? I am happy for her. For them both.

 For the three of them.

Congratulations my dear baby sister. I love you so much! So much more than I expected all dressed up to meet you!

We all share in her joy!

The boys were ring bearers and were adorable.

 Such a great day!

It was a great day.
They will be a great family- lots of love, lots of laughter and solid anchor of God's presence.
You captured the spirit and love of those moments beautifully.
Great job with the camera and being a big sister.

Beautiful post from a beautiful heart. I have always loved the way you love her......though I was a little nervous the morning I walked in your room and you were standing on a chair trying to get her out of her crib because she was fussing.
She will still need your listening ear, your good big-sister advice, your prayers...and fantastic pictures of her family.
Thanks so much for all your help with the wedding, Carrie. I couldn't have pulled it off without you. I agree about the flowers. They were BEAUTIFUL!
