The Flu

I am at home.
In the bed.
With the flu.

That is a self diagnosis. What else could congestion, headache, body aches and fever be? When I go to the doc in the box this afternoon he will probably say its a cold. Indicating that I am weak and don't handle sickness well.

Thanks to modern medicine (meaning DayQuil and NyQuil) my fever is now a manageable 99.8 and I can kind of breathe through my nose. So while I do not feel well enough to stand on my feet all day and teach teenagers about American Imperialism and how it relates to today I do feel well enough to do something besides drink Sprite through a straw and breath in Vapor Rub.

I am suddenly faced with free time. A rare treasure. Unfortunately I left the school Friday tired after Homecoming week and did not take anything home. (Somewhere my college professor who said ,"Teachers who leave the building with just their purses are not doing their jobs" is cringing, but he should know that most days I carry a giant teacher's bag full of things I rarely look at just for him on most days) So grading and lesson planning are out. As is cleaning and doing laundry or any other household activities requiring physical effort.

So I am left with the laptop and my Bible. Internet shopping and Prayer. Besides for the aching and hacking up half my lung today looks like a good day.

The swine flu has been at our house. Luckily, the media has made a way bigger deal out of it than it really is! Hope you feel better really soon!! (the flu is so nuts here, no pharmacies even have tamiflu for people with the flu, much less as a preventative. Hope your area is better stocked!!)
