The RSV

I have heard legends about RSV and how terrible it is. Stories of kids being hospitalized and not sleeping for days because they couldn't breathe. So I was terrified when Adam reported that is what the doctor diagnosed Noah with on Friday. We got the breathing machine out of the box and put it together for the first treatment. It had a missing part and didn't work. (We later found that missing part under the console table, Charlie!) We called all the numbers and the sales rep came out to our house with the replacement part in the rain on a Friday night. It gave me some faith in the world. The first time I put the mask on he screamed bloody murder. I cried. After that it got better. We elevated his bed with old Gloms. (Auburn yearbooks) We put im in the bathroom with steam from hot showers. He woke up once here and there at night but still slept mostly through the night his usual ten hours. I am happy to report that my little man has been quite the trooper. His breathing is not labored or fast like before. He still has a little wheezing and a cough here and there. But he is back at "school" today and he is all smiles. Thank you for the prayers!

I am so sorry to hear Noah has had RSV. Having preemies, I lived in fear of this dreaded virus for two years! Glad to hear he's handling it so well and still sleeping - if baby doesn't sleep, no one sleeps!

Carrie - Thanks so much for praying for me and my little family. I never imagined that labor/delivery and the start of motherhood would go the way it has, but I'm so thankful for the outcome. Your story and experience, told to me through Jana, really put me at ease and helped me understand what was happening to me.

I hope Noah's RSV clears up quickly. I have a friend here whose youngest son has it, and he's doing great now. So, just hang in there!

By the way, there are a few pics of the new babe up on my blog, and I'll post more as soon as I get a chance to type a post instead of just catch up on other's blogs! =)
