The Onesie and The Friend

I've had a pretty hard week. I let my job get the best of me. I tried so hard to be spiritual about teaching at PWBHS and love on the kids. But when you love people they can hurt you and break your heart with their actions. This week I played pregnancy crisis counselor. It drained me spiritually and emotionally. Then my thug class (self-proclaimed mind you) would not pay attention to me. It was like teaching to the wall. They weren't rude about it, they just weren't paying attention to me. I left work everyday this week discouraged and tired. Noah has been teething and very congested. We found out today he has RSV. So when I would pick him he would cry and fuss until bedtime. It was just a hard week.
I have a friend, Jana, that God has used in so many ways to bless, teach, and grow me with. She and I were blessed with surprise pregnancies about three weeks apart. And because of afore mentioned complications Noah Christopher Jones was born just 36 hours earlier than Micah Daniel Hillen. Jana and her amazing husband Dan moved to Indiana this past summer. Even though separated by several hundred miles, I know that Noah and Micah will grow to be great friends. Jana works with Dan for Youth for Christ and she came to PWBHS every week to minister to kids. She knows first hand what I face and what it is like to attempt to love these kids with God's love. God often uses her to encourage me and lift me up when I want to give up. And He did so this week.
Yesterday was a particularly heartbreaking day and Noah was particularly not feeling good (and rightly so). In an attempt to cheer up my sweet boy and entertain my wild Charlie I went outside to get the mail. Noah had an envelope from his friend Micah. Inside was a funny funny postcard from Micah to Noah and the onesie in the picture below. My laughter and enjoyment yesterday and today when I dressed him in it was much needed medicine for the heart. It is true, Noah was "Made in London".
So thank you Jana (Micah and Dan) for the envelope of smiles at just the right time and the friendship I will always treasure no matter how many miles separate us!
